Credit to: Ashley Sullivan Hawthorne, 08/28/2017 10 am WAYS TO HELP IF YOU DID NOT FLOOD: So many people want to help because they did not flood. Kick that “survivors guilt” to the curb and channel those feelings into action. Through the Baton Rouge flood, we quickly realized and zoned in on 3 major needs. 1. BRING FOOD TO PEOPLE WORKING ON THEIR HOUSES. This can be brown bag lunches, or whatever. All fast food […]

08/29/2017 – Noon The photo above shows the highest water mark we had thus far. We are hanging in there. It finally let up long enough to get to Target for some food. We anticipate about 8-10 inches of rain today as the storm goes back over. Since midnight, we received 4.44 inches of rain, bringing our total so far to 43.40 inches. In Houston, we depend on bayous to carry flood waters away to the […]

As one with a BBA in Management and an MBA in Human Resources Management from the University of Houston, Clear Lake, I can honestly say that I read MANY books in my lifetime as they pertain to leadership. Recently, Doug Stringer released his latest book, ‘Leadership Awakening – Foundational Principles for Lasting Success.’ It is, by far, the best leadership book available today. I highly recommend this book to anybody (regardless of your current job title […]

An innocent search on a search engine results in a displayed image of a woman with barely any clothes […]

I now feel much better, full of energy, and I jog on a treadmill for 30 minutes at least three times a week. In addition to […]

Grand Jury

I recently served on one of the five grand jury panels in Harris County.  Serving as a grand juror was an onerous assignment; however, one that I found rewarding and insightful. I am sworn to secrecy not to reveal the activities that took place within our quorum. I will share that we served with honor and respect to the process.  We took our task seriously. Here are some life lessons that all should learn and […]
